HapticLabs Usability Study

As a part of my coursework at Bentley University, I, along with a group of other students conducted a study for HapticLabs, a no-code development kit for designing haptic feedback.

As of November 2023, this study is still in progress.

Research questions:

  • How can HapticLabs best support first-time users?

  • What onboarding and educational materials are beneficial to first-time users?

  • In what industries and environments is HapticLabs most relevant?

Method:

We will be conducting a between-subjects study, where we compare multiple variants of the same variable. Each group will complete the same set of tasks in the same tool (HapticLabs Studio), though each of the three groups will have different levels of access to onboarding materials. We will not be counterbalancing the order of the tasks, because the nature of the tool requires the tasks to be done in a specific order.
